Before & After
Community Stories: Before & After
Dugri Community Pollinator Garden
Before: A dull and underutilised neighbourhood park with limited biodiversity and little community interaction.
After: A vibrant pollinator-friendly ecosystem attracting butterflies, bees and birds while actively engaging local residents and children in environmental stewardship. The initiative was recognised with a Letter of Appreciation by Mrs. Anita Sharma, Councillor, Ward No. 40, Ludhiana.
State Observation Home
Before: A barren institutional space offering little opportunity for calm, engagement or responsibility.
After: A dedicated pollinator garden where juveniles were entrusted with caring for different sections, developing responsibility, discipline and pride through ecological participation. The space gradually became a place of calm, routine and healing.
Braille Bhawan – Government Institute for Blind
Before: Limited access to meaningful sensory interaction with nature and biodiversity education.
After: A sensory pollinator garden where visually impaired students explored plants through touch, texture and fragrance while learning about pollinators through storytelling and guided ecological activities.
Sahyog Halfway Home
Residents recovering from chronic mental illness had limited calming outdoor spaces for engagement. A healing garden with flowering plants, flowerpots painted by residents and nature-based therapeutic activities that encouraged participation, emotional connection and social interaction.
Home Away from Home – Orphanage
Before: Children had little personal connection with environmental activities or long-term ecological care.
After: Children planted and cared for saplings as their own, developing responsibility, emotional attachment and a lasting connection with nature through hands-on gardening activities.
Sri Harkrishan Public School, Ludhiana
A previously barren school ground was transformed into a pollinator-friendly garden through student-led participation creating a space for biodiversity, environmental learning, and ownership
